College Algebra
College Algebra provides a foundation in mathematical concepts used across science and business classes. The course emphasizes functions and their applications, covering linear, quadratic, polynomial, rational, exponential, and logarithmic functions. Students will be aided in developing problem-solving and critical-thinking skills while learning graphing techniques, equation solving, and modeling real-world scenarios. This course prepares students for further study in precalculus, statistics, and for the mathematics used in other fields of study.
Precalculus
Precalculus is designed to prepare students for the study of calculus by building a strong foundation in advanced algebraic and trigonometric concepts. This course has emphasis on polynomial, rational, exponential, and logarithmic functions in greater depth, while also introducing trigonometric functions, identities, and equations. Additional topics covered are, graphing, and applying mathematical reasoning to real-world and scientific contexts.
Calculus I
Calculus I introduces the fundamental principles of differential and integral calculus with an emphasis on limits, continuity, derivatives, and basic integration. Students learn to apply derivatives to problems involving rates of change, motion, optimization, and curve analysis. Integrals are introduced for calculating areas and solving applied problems. The course emphasizes both conceptual understanding and practical problem-solving, providing a strong foundation for advanced study in courses pertaining to mathematics, engineering, and other sciences.
